REFLECTION
EXPERIENCE
At the very beginning of the semester, I felt that typography might be the easiest module among the others. But yet, after having the experience of task 1, I felt that my idea was initially wrong! Typography is a module that handles structural design and may also be defined as allowing us to design within a box (instruction) but in a creative typographic style. In fact, typography is a study that is actually concerned with the structure of letterforms and typefaces.
I did appreciate the entire process, particularly for the task 3A and 3B. Despite how difficult it was when pointing out the errors and issues in the task as well as keep making amendments to achieve the most perfect outcome. For task 1 and 2, they might be regarded as a framework or foundation for me to generate a more successful outcome for task 3, our final assignment. In comparison to task 1 and 2, I felt more chilled and enjoyed during task 3A and 3B since I had more expertise and information about how to create a good typography as well as having a more creative flexibility to create the potential outcomes.
OBSERVATION
Throughout the semester, I realised that I always attempted my designs with "more" graphical components. Yet, I think this caused due to my previous experience with graphical work, leading me to over-graphicize my idea when developing them. Furthermore, after completing the module, I observed that sometimes me standing in front of some outlets, concentrating to certain packaging and logo design, analysing their type design. The most revolting part, I believe, is that I might observing the kerning and tracking space of the certain packaging.
FINDINGS
Throughout the semester, I discovered that typography was merely the foundation of a design student. In fact, we live in a typographic universe in which everything is created according to typographic standards. It is simple to build a design, but mastering typography might take some effort.
